About Art Hive Studio

Hi, I’m Sarah, founder of Art Hive Studio! I'm excited to be part of the Port Townsend community and offer students of all ages a variety of workshops and camps where they can create and explore with conventional and alternative art and craft mediums and materials.

I've come a long way—literally! In 2019, I first opened the doors of Art Hive Studio as a children’s pop-up art studio in Dallas, Texas. Just a few years later, in 2022, I relocated with my husband to Port Townsend. Once settled into this lovely community of artists and arts offerings, the idea sparked again to open Art Hive Studio to offer a place and space for students to explore, acquire, and share their creative skills.

If you would have asked me as a child where I'd spend my time as an adult, my immediate answer would have been teaching or being an artist. I wouldn't have imagined back then that much of my career would be spent outside of the arts as a digital consultant. Yet, my path has allowed me to continue fostering my love of art and teaching over the years through fine arts coursework, peer arts workshops, volunteer work in non-profit arts organizations, and in founding a ceramics co-op in Dallas, Texas. All of these experiences and the knowledge gained from them have led me here and to all of you!

In Port Townsend, my purpose for Art Hive Studio is to offer a variety of creative activities in the form of workshops, camps, and private art events that encourage laughter and fun and inspire learners of all ages. With the wonderful and welcoming arts community here in Port Townsend—and the communities around us in the Olympic Peninsula, I hope to grow with it and all of you in the years to come!
